“LEGACY OF ADRIAN BLACKTHORN VAMPIRE”

Review by C. S. Lamb

Let me just start by saying - I LOVE THIS BOOK!  Generally, I am not a fan of vampire novels, even “Dracula” left me cold - but “LEGACY OF ADRIAN BLACKTHORN VAMPIRE” is enthralling.  It’s author, Woodrow W. Walker is a top notch story teller on a par with Burroughs and Biggers.  I was totally engrossed in this book.  The book has everything you’d expect in a vampire story but unlike some other authors, Walker successfully adds to the vampire mythos without dispelling the readers ingoing conception of what it means to be a vampire.  As you might expect with a novel of this genre, it is a bit racy but these elements, though quite risqué, are not employed as “shock elements” and are handled with a grace and understanding which is seldom seen in literary outings of this type.  The historical aspects of the novel, which cover a period of over 1000 years, are well researched and do not disappoint a history buff like myself.  So, go out and get a copy of “LEGACY OF ADRIAN BLACKTHORN VAMPIRE”.  Once you get started, you can’t put it down.   I didn’t.

THE BIG BOOK OF BIKER FLICKS

Review by C. S. Lamb

If you, like me, enjoy watching those cheap, cheesy Biker Flicks of the 1960’s and 70’s, then you’ll love “THE BIG BOOK OF BIKER FLICKS”, by John Wooley and Michael H. Price.  Wooley and Price cover the genre, from it inception in the 1950’s, with Marlon Brando’s “The Wild One”, to it’s rebirth in the 1960’s with Roger Corman’s “The Wild Angels”,  onward to the legendary, 1969, biker classic “Easy Rider”, and down to it’s eventual demise, in the early 1970’s, with films like, “The Dirt Gang”, “The Loners” and “Road of Death”.  The book covers 40 of the genres most notable films and is packed full of great information, photos and behind the scenes insights, from the likes of Samuel Z. Arkoff, Roger Corman, Peter Fonda,  Herschell Gordon Lewis, Dennis Hopper, Sam Sherman, Jack Nicholson, Sonny Barger (longtime president of the Oakland Hell’s Angels Motorcycle Club) and other notables.  Wooley and Price are top notch genre film historians and this book certainly shows their expert hand.  “THE BIG BOOK OF BIKER FLICKS” is a must for all fans of Exploitation films, Drive-in movies, Low Budget Schlock, and Cycle Cinema.  So, hop on your hog, ride down to your nearest bookstore (leave the bike outside) and get yourself a copy of

“THE BIG BOOK OF BIKER FLICKS”  -  It’s a Wild Ride!
